Archives A bitter sweet legacy Past: June 5 → July 26, 2014 For this exhibition, the artists realised research and workshop based creations in which they conceived a multitude of works in parallel, where works liberally influenced others. The result outlines an environment defined by memory, with links developing through echoes, references and recollections.
Archives Alors, ils se mirent à parler du temps Past: November 16 → December 21, 2013 For this exhibition, the gallery has, for the first time, invited the 6 artists it represents to work on this reflection. A passage where the time stops or expands to reveal our history, our memory and our myths… A non-linear and taunting time to better thwart our daily lives.
Archives Contes de Noël Past: December 7 → 14, 2013 Pour la deuxième année, Less is More Projects ouvre ses réserves et présente le temps d’un weekend une sélection d’œuvres originales, multiples, éditions d’artistes.
Archives Sciences et Fictions Past: May 16 → June 15, 2013 Sciences&Fictions is a reflection on the sharing of knowledge between two opposed worlds, modern sciences and fictional narratives, on the transition of imaginary constructions from one to the other. Eleven artists have used this theme for 8 works of art which will be shown at the Roussan gallery.
Archives Code et Système clos Past: April 12 → June 1, 2013 The notions of closed code and system have the particularity of bringing together a host of associated concepts, forms, feelings and actions. A code, whether it be understood rationally or intuitively, requires active participation (i.e. in decrypting or adhering/departing from a convention). A closed system is a pure…
Archives Zero Gravity Past: April 6 → May 25, 2013 With this show Zero Gravity, Less is More Projects continues its offbeat reflection on lightness, weight, attraction and repulsion, in both their physical as well as metaphorical senses. An Invitation to a journey in a surprising world, where a feather weighs as heavy as a hammer.
Archives Welcome to Past: February 8 → April 6, 2013 The word “Park” contains the notion of an enclosed space — the space in the gallery that the artist occupies for the first time — as much as the idea of perspective, of openness and of the infinite. Natural park, wasteland, the first series of images reflects a mystic nature. Each work evokes the “in-between”, the transient state, with even the possibility of the work itself being seen as a gateway.
Archives Eschatologie Past: November 9 → December 21, 2012 If, as the Mayans seemed to predict by ending their calendar on December 21st 2012, and if in the Bible, or more generally in all religions, there is a forewarning of the end of the world, then an Apocalypse there will be!
Archives We Love You Past: December 8 → 9, 2012 A little more than one year ago, Less is More Projects opened its space thanks to the fundamental support of artists, galleries, collectors and partners, allowing us to take an active part in international contemporary art dialogue and to reflect on the manifold forms that a gallery might take.
Archives 21 x 29,7 — Exposition collective Past: September 13 → November 3, 2012 For September 2012, Galerie de Roussan, Jean-Jacques Lebel and Nabila Mokrani have invited more than 40 artists to create or show a small artwork — all media, concepts and generations included. In line with the history of the revolutionary district of Belleville, the gallery has asked the artists to reflect upon and work on the idea of revolutions.
Archives Jérôme Allavena, Sandra Aubry & Sébastien Bourg, Pierre-Laurent Cassière, Chloé Dugit-Gros — x, y, z, & t Past: June 23 → July 28, 2012 Mathematics represent space and time as two inseparable notions influencing each other, space-time has four dimensions: three for space, x, y, z, and one for time, t. The artists play on this impalpable matter which draws toward mental and physical reflection.
Archives Après tout rien Past: March 9 → May 5, 2012 “Après tout rien” is a journey in Another World. “I lost the ground and travelled in mind. I left a sterile world, and came alongside a mineral and icy, but pure and demanding country. I was met by its motto on a glass banner that said we were not clear enough with ourselves. The trip must be internal too: it is the key to live in my world.”
Archives Studiolo #3 — Sandra Aubry & Sébastien Bourg — MacGuffin ne viendra pas #5 Past: March 3 → April 28, 2012 Studiolo is a year long programme of one work, one artist, small scale curated exhibitions presented as every month event online and in our small entrance gallery space in complement of our exhibitions programme. The work presented in March is “MacGuffin ne viendra pas #5” of Sandra Aubry and Sébastien Bourg.
Archives Lightness Past: March 24 → April 28, 2012 “Lightness” brings together eight artists whose work tries to find this existential function of art that is the search for lightness as a reaction to the weight of living. “Lightness” goes with precision and determination, not with vagueness and the haphazard, it appears here as a value rather than a defect.
